Curriculum Resources
- Career Information for Students. Mycooljob.org gives middle school and early high school students a taste of the real world of work. Four major in-demand career fields are highlighted: Engineering, Information Technology, Arts and Communication, and Health Sciences. This WOSU Public Media project includes free job-related content from the Columbus Dispatch.
- Collaborative Articulation and Assessment Project is a creative, action-oriented articulation project designed to address the problems typically associated with leading language learners from high school to postsecondary foreign language instruction.
- The Ohio Early College Mathematics Placement Testing Program (Ohio EMPT) is a high school mathematics intervention program designed to help high school students make decisions about taking mathematics courses while still in high school. The tests are administered to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, who receive personalized reports of their performance with a list of mathematics courses required for their intended major and remedial courses that might be required. The service is free and available online with testing anywhere and any time (within a 2-week testing period).
- Ohio Resource Center for Mathematics, Science and Reading promotes standards-based best practices in mathematics, science, and reading for Ohio schools and universities. ORC serves as a trusted source of easily accessible, peer-reviewed, high-quality, and effective resources.
- Ohio Social Studies Resource Center is a source for best teaching practices, content resources, and assessment items that align with and support Ohio’s Social Studies Academic Content Standards. Includes instructional, professional, content, assessment, and general education resources.
Programs for Children and Youth
- African American and African Studies Community Extension Center offers a math and science program and summer program for youth.
- College of Mathematical and Physical Sciences outreach programs in astronomy, physics, chemistry, math, and more.
- Kid Corps is designed to help preschoolers who are considered at risk for low achievement enter school prepared to succeed. Kid Corps engages approximately 60-70 Ohio State work-study students as mentors and teachers.
- OSU Extension - 4-H Youth Development.
A nonformal, hands-on, youth development program for ages 5-19. - The 2nd & 7 Foundation and student-athletes from The Ohio State University team up to visit second- grade classes each week to promote literacy throughout central Ohio.
- Stone Laboratory P-12 Education Programs. Teachers can bring their classes (grade 4 or above) to Stone Laboratory on Lake Erie during the spring and fall for a special custom-designed workshop/field trip that can include a science cruise on research vessels,fish dissections, identification of plankton using microscopes, bird walks, insect walks, invertebrate collections, seining, history discussions, and much more.
- The Wexner Center for Arts offers tours and programs that emphasize active looking and learning and complement the curriculum and academic content standards.
- Women in Engineering K-12 Outreach offers a variety of age-appropriate workshops, summer camps, and other programs to interest students in science and engineering.

- The Office of International Affairs provides outreach services for international education to P-12 educators and the community. Area Studies Centers offer numerous outreach opportunities including teacher workshops, video loan libraries, lecture programs, teaching materials, and artifact boxes.

Professional Development
- Arts and Sciences Public School Partnership Advisory Committee explores collaborative opportunities for public school teachers and Ohio State faculty in the five liberal arts colleges. On this page are links to Ohio State Opportunities newsletter, which lists activities open to K-12 teachers and students.
- The Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing's Outreach Program provides seminars and summer institutes for teachers that are focused on improving writing.
- The Office of Outreach and Engagement connects the College of Education and Human Ecology to the larger community, its schools, neighborhoods, and families through four work groups: Schools and Agencies, Extension, External Relations, Partnerships and Entrepreneurship.
- ENC Focus online magazines for K-12 math and science educators
- History WORKS is a professional development program for Columbus middle and high school teachers of American History, and History WORKS II is for elementary teachers. The website contains information about monthly seminars and summer institutes, a comprehensive historical timeline, lesson plans, and tutorials.
- The Mid Ohio Writing Project at Ohio State Mansfield provides high-quality professional development experiences that blend best practices with current research in the teaching of writing.
- The Wexner Center for the Arts offers workshops and resource materials for teachers to introduce issues in contemporary art and culture and to help teachers prepare students for visits to the center.
Research
- The Center for Family Research is a coalition of Ohio State faculty, students, and staff—representing the colleges of Education and Human Ecology; Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences; Law; Medicine; Social and Behavioral Sciences; and Social Work—who have interest and expertise in research, assessment, and treatment efforts as they relate to the family, with particular emphasis on the family’s role in the development and well-being of children and adolescents.
- Center for Learning Excellence is an initiative that encourages local school districts to work with community partners to develop alternative education strategies for at-risk children and youth. The center currently has three sites:
- Family & Consumer Sciences Extension professionals focus on building Healthy People, Healthy Finances, and Healthy Relationships, enhancing the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities through research, education, and outreach.
